40 archdiocesan priests celebrate jubilees

The Michigan Catholic
Published May 22, 2009

The Church of Detroit will honor 40 archdiocesan priests celebrating milestone anniversaries of their ordination to the priesthood at a Jubilee Mass and luncheon Tuesday, May 26, at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.

These men have given our Church the gift of their lives. Through their love of Jesus Christ and their dedication to bringing His love and Word to us, we have been forever changed.

They baptized us and our children, perhaps even our parents and grandparents. They taught us, prayed for us, consoled us, and shaped our faith. They cared for us when we were sick, conducted our weddings and presided at the funerals of our loved ones.

For all they have done for us - baptisms, funerals, marriages, sick visits - and for simply being men of prayer, we thank them.

This year's jubilarians include five celebrating 25 years, 11 marking 40 years, five marking 50 years, one marking 60 years, one marking 61 years, four marking 62 years, three marking 63 years, four celebrating 64 years, three marking 66 years, two marking 67 years, two marking 68 years and one each celebrating 70 and 71 years.

Information about diocesan priests celebrating jubilees this year follows.
