Funeral Service for Devon Spurlock

Issued: March 19, 2009
Contact: Ned McGrath, infodesk@aod.org / (313) 237-5943

The funeral service for Devon Spurlock, one of four teenagers killed on Monday night in a Macomb County traffic accident, will be held on Saturday, March 21, at 1:00 p.m. in Holy Innocents – St. Barnabas Church, 26100 Ridgemont St., Roseville. Prior to the service, at 12:30 p.m., the body will lie in state in the church. Fr. Robert Schuster, pastor, will preside at the service.

The Archdiocesan Department of Communications relays a request from the Spurlock family, that no recording devices— video, audio, or still photography— be allowed inside the church building while the body lies in state or during the funeral Mass.

Reporters and crews covering this story are reminded of the solemnity of this occasion and are asked to respect the Spurlock family's need for privacy and personal space. In addition, they are asked to honor the family's request in regard to recording devices and still photography.
