Catholic League Hosts Annual Prep Bowl at Ford Field Oct. 24

The Catholic League Football Championships will be played at Ford Field on Saturday, October 24. Working reporters and camera crews will be admitted through Gate G with league issued credentials. Please reply to chsl@aod.org before noon on Thursday with names and addresses in order to receive credentials before the event. Everyone entering Ford Field on Saturday must have a ticket or Catholic League issued press credential. Will call will not be available that day.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- For the 28th consecutive year the Prep Bowl will present a medallion to the Scholastic All Catholic team comprised on the top student in each class in the 25 Catholic League High Schools.
- The 37th annual Prep Bowl will honor the Soup Bowl and Goodfellow Champions from 50 years ago, the St. Ambrose Cavaliers. Members of that team along with Coach Tom Boisture and Rick Gosselin (author of the book Goodfellows) will be honored before the 4:00 AB Championship game.
- Performing the coin toss prior to each game will be Thor, a member of the World Champion University of Detroit Mercy Robotics team.
- The Catholic League's first football Championship game was played on Thanksgiving Day in 1926 at Southwestern Field between Holy Redeemer and St. Leo.
The Prep Bowl is sponsored by the Knights of Columbus, Adidas, Top Cat Sales, Ford Field, and Buddy's Pizza.
