Regarding the vandalism at SS. Cyril & Methodius Church

Statues outside of SS. Cyril and Methodius Church in Sterling Heights were defaced by vandals the night of October 2. The statues, which were of the holy family, were spray painted with graffiti. No structural damage was done to the statues. The church has filed a police report and is working with its insurance company to have the paint removed from the statues. This is the second instance of such vandalism the parish has experienced in two weeks. SS. Cyril and Methodius is on Ryan Road just north of Eighteen Mile Road in Sterling Heights.

"We're saddened that someone would commit senseless, immature acts of vandalism like this," said Joe Kohn, director of public relations for the Archdiocese of Detroit. "This is a place where families gather to share and to come closer to Christ, espousing the virtues of love, peace and forgiveness. For the church to be targeted like this is a shame."
