Youth Leadership Training
Young people are able to take on a variety of leadership roles within their families, parishes, schools and communities. Their giftedness and abilities are very valuable. Youth leadership skills and approaches can be developed, expanded and strengthened.
The Office for Youth Ministry offers two youth leadership training options for teens completing their 9th grade year through those entering their 12th grade year. These options happen in the summer. Space is limited, and registration is on a first come, first serve basis.
Phase 1: This overnight program includes training, leadership skill development, and experiences teens can use in a variety of situations. Skills related to communication, facilitation, planning and decision making will be presented. Additionally, there will be emphasis on group dynamics and a focus on using individual strengths throughout one's daily life.
Phase 2: This phase goes deeper. This two night model focuses on discovering gifts, setting a clear direction for life, and knowing how to be a Christian leader in today's world. This leadership retreat is designed for young people who are already in a leadership position or those who are interested in exploring their own potential. This phase is open to teens who have completed prior leadership training, such as Phase 1 or a similar program. This two night program is presented by a trainer from the Center for Ministry Development.
